Dog sledding half day in the Arctic (Porsanger)

Activity Provider: Pirate Husky

Are you curious about dog sledding, but don’t feel ready for a full mushing adventure? Check out our short trip, a perfect way of getting over the threshold and out into the winter landscape! You might find your self wanting to try one of our longer trip next time. Upon arrival you will get a proper introduction in safety and driving a dog team. First we say hello to the pack so you will get to know the dogs that will come out with us. You will get to harness your own dog team, by instructions and with help from us. Two and two guests go on the same sled, and we will have a stop about halfway, so you can change who is the driver, and who’s passenger if both want to try. One of us will go in front, and your team will follow. What do I need to bring ?

Warm clothes (we recommend an inner layer of wool, good winter clothes, hat, mittens, and scarf), good winter shoes, camera/cell phone, water bottle, and a good mood.

  • Meet and bond with our friendly huskies

  • Experience the thrill of dogsledding through the stunning Arctic wilderness.

  • Drive your own dog team or share a sled with a partner under the guidance of an

    experienced musher.

  • Learn about sled dog training, mushing traditions, and life with our working

    huskies.

  • Warm up after the tour with hot drinks while sharing stories with your guides.

This provider places particular emphasis on responsible breeding, preventive healthcare, and the careful development of their sled dogs. All dogs are registered with official pedigree papers, are covered by health insurance, and receive veterinary check-ups at least once a year to ensure their long-term health and well-being. Special attention is given to the puppies' socialization from an early age. Through a collaboration with the local kindergarten, children regularly visit the kennel to play with the puppies, helping them grow into confident, friendly, and well-socialized dogs that are comfortable around people of all ages.
