Enjoy daily activities with our huskies and learn how mushers prepare the dogs for the winter season. You will take part in training sessions with dog sleds on wheels and discover our daily routines at the kennel all depending on daily temperatures.

Itinerary

  • Arrival in the evening and check-in at your accommodation. Meet the huskies for the first time and join the evening feeding. Dinner and overnight stay at your accommodation.

  • Start the day with morning feeding and an introduction to our training equipment, daily routines, and how we prepare the dogs for the winter season. Depending on the weather, temperatures, and the dogs’ needs, activities may include:

    • Dog training with wheeled carts: Harness the dogs, drive a team, and learn how to check the dogs before and after training.

    • Husky walks or free running: Spend time with the dogs, discover their individual personalities, and help with their socialization.

    • Kennel maintenance: Take part in daily tasks and help keep the kennel and equipment in good condition.

    Lunch at the kennel or your accommodation. Evening feeding, dinner, and overnight stay.

  • Start the day with morning feeding and the usual kennel routines. Depending on conditions, the day may include:

    • A longer dog training session.

    • Post-training care: Check paws, stretch, brush, and help with basic dog care.

    • Quality time with the huskies: Spend time with the dogs and strengthen your connection with them.

    • Kennel maintenance: Help with daily tasks around the kennel.

    Evening feeding, followed by a puppy or husky walk depending on conditions.

    Dinner and overnight stay.

  • Morning feeding followed by the usual kennel routines. Depending on temperatures, weather, and the dogs’ needs, activities may include:

    • A final training session with the dogs.

    • Time with the huskies: Cuddles, photos, free running, and social interaction.

    • Behind-the-scenes kennel work: Take part in daily care routines and other tasks around the kennel.

    Final evening feeding, farewell dinner, and overnight stay.

  • Final morning feeding and some last time with the dogs before saying goodbye and departing for the airport.

This provider places special emphasis on maintaining a balanced age structure within the pack. This ensures that all dogs entering retirement can spend the rest of their life on the farm and remain part of the community until the very end. The small group size allows for individual care. In addition, all male dogs are neutered to prevent unplanned litters. Also noteworthy are the two scheduled rest days each week, giving the dogs time to recover and recuperate.

    You can choose between two types of accommodation:

    Apartment at the lodge, located just 5 minutes from the kennel (transfers included).

    Glamping tent by the kennel, a more rustic but cozy option equipped with a oven and beds — with the huskies as your closest neighbors.

  • Good health conditions. No previous experience required. 

    • Transportation from Lakselv airport (return). Pick-up from Alta available at extra cost.

      Breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.

      All activities as described in the program.

    • 5 nights: 4 nights in a double room at our guesthouse and 1 night in a wilderness cabin

    • Your own dog team

    • Free use of the sauna

    • Rental equipment: outer clothing, winter boots (sizes 39–48), gloves, tent, winter sleeping bag, sleeping mat, and snowshoes or skis

    • Flights and alcoholic drinks

  • Warm, weather-appropriate clothing suitable for outdoor activities (layering is recommended)

    Waterproof outer layer (jacket and pants)

    Wool or fleece sweater

    Sturdy outdoor shoes

    Working gloves, thin wool gloves, and a scarf

    Thick wool socks and wool underwear

    Personal toiletries

    • You are eligible to receive a full refund of the booking amount if you cancel your reservation at least 37 days before the scheduled start time.
