Crossing the Arctic Circle is on many people’s bucket lists. But crossing it by dog sled? That’s an experience you don’t get every day!
This adventure takes you on a three-day dog sledding journey, with your own husky team to drive, and two nights in simple yet wonderfully cosy wilderness cabins – one of them located right at the Arctic Circle. Join us and create memories to last a lifetime!
Covering daily distances of 30–35 km, the route takes you through the diverse landscape of a Natura 2000 area. We glide through snow-covered forests and across frozen lakes and bogs, passing small hills along the way. Then, suddenly, in the middle of nowhere, we come across a monument marking the geographical location of the Arctic Circle.
Unlike larger tourist destinations, there are no restaurants or souvenir shops here – just nature and silence. Most of the time, you won’t encounter anyone other than perhaps a few reindeer.
This tour is perfect for anyone looking for a unique winter adventure with huskies away from large groups. If you wish, we can arrange a room at a nearby lodge before and after the tour and organise the necessary transfers.
Itinerary

First, we’ll go through the equipment needed for the tour and make sure your clothing is suitable for the weather conditions. You’ll then get to know the dogs and receive a detailed introduction to the art of mushing.
The equipment needed for the coming days will be packed into the sleds, and then we’ll set off on our adventure, gliding into the wilderness on the runners.
The route heads north through a gently hilly landscape, passing through forests and across frozen lakes and bogs in the Natura 2000 area. Along the way, we’ll stop for an outdoor lunch and give the dogs their snacks.
In the afternoon, we’ll reach our first destination – a cosy wilderness cabin. Upon arrival, the dogs will be taken care of first before it’s time for the humans to settle in and get comfortable.
There is virtually no light pollution out here, and on a clear night, you can enjoy an incredible star-filled sky. With a little luck, the Northern Lights may also put on a spectacular show.

In the morning, we’ll start by taking care of the dogs before enjoying a hearty breakfast to fuel us for the day ahead. Then we’ll continue on quiet runners through the snowy winter landscape.
Today’s destination is a very special one – the Arctic Circle. In the middle of nowhere, a portal marks this famous landmark, which you’ll cross by dog sled. What an incredible photo opportunity!
Tonight, you’ll stay in a simple wilderness cabin right at the Arctic Circle.

Today, we’ll hit the sled trails one last time. By now, mushers and dogs have become a well-coordinated team, allowing you to fully enjoy the ride through the winter landscape.
Eventually, we’ll reach the end point of the tour, where a transfer will take us back to the Winterdog farm. There, we’ll take care of the dogs one more time and give them plenty of cuddles before it’s time to say:
“Hejdå – goodbye, dear four-legged friends!”

This provider places a strong emphasis on the health and wellbeing of their dogs. All dogs are covered by health insurance and have access to a small pool to cool off during the summer. Particular care is also taken when training young dogs: young dogs are first gradually introduced to working with the guide team and are carefully accustomed to their future tasks step by step.
The way senior dogs are cared for is particularly noteworthy. Heated kennels are available for them, or they can have a place inside the house, ensuring that older dogs are accommodated according to their individual needs. In addition, the guide is trained in canine first aid and is therefore prepared to respond to medical emergencies.
