It's all about the dogs!
We invite you to discover the fascinating world of sled dogs. Together with our dogs, you will explore the untouched wilderness of Swedish Lapland. Awaiting you is the breathtaking landscape of the taiga, with its dense coniferous forests, vast wetlands, and countless lakes and rivers.
Experience the heart of winter up close—side by side with your own team of sled dogs. But our tour is much more than just a dog sledding adventure. It's not only about guiding a sled through the snowy landscape. At its heart lies the unique bond between humans and dogs—a special partnership that has inspired and fascinated us for so many years.
From the very beginning, we will guide you step by step. We will teach you everything you need to know so that you and your dogs become a well-coordinated team, ready to face the challenges of the wilderness together. Thanks to our small group sizes, we can provide personal guidance and individual attention to every participant.
During your stay with us, you will enjoy both day tours, returning to our dog camp in the afternoon, and an overnight expedition, where we will spend the night in a traditional log cabin surrounded by the wilderness.
All you need to bring is a love for dogs, a passion for nature, and the curiosity to experience an unforgettable adventure.
We look forward to sharing this extraordinary experience with you.
Itinerary
-
You will travel independently to Vilhelmina, where we will arrange your transfer from the airport or bus station to our camp. You will be accommodated in a twin room, giving you time to settle in and make yourselves comfortable. Afterwards, we will get to know each other over a relaxed welcome dinner.
During the evening, we will introduce you to the plan for the week, explain the different tour options, and answer any questions you may have. Throughout the week, we will spend 1 + 2 + 1 days out on the sled. What does that mean?
On Monday, we will head out on an introductory day tour in the surrounding area before returning to the camp in the afternoon. Over the following two days, we will embark on an overnight expedition, spending one night in the wilderness. On Thursday, we will once again explore the surrounding landscape on a day tour.
-
After breakfast, it is time to meet our dogs—and of course, cuddles are included. We will introduce you to the dogs that will accompany you on your adventure over the coming days. Since you and your dogs will become a team that relies on one another, it is important to us that you have the opportunity to build a bond with the dogs in your team from the very beginning.
After getting to know the dogs, we will begin with a comprehensive introduction. Dog sledding involves much more than simply standing on a sled. You will learn everything you need to know, from handling the dogs and putting on their harnesses to driving and controlling the sled. Once everyone is ready, we will harness the dogs together, you will step onto your sleds, and the adventure begins.
Your guide will lead the way with their own sled while you follow with your dog teams. The route will be adapted to the current weather and trail conditions. After returning to camp, our first priority is always to take care of the dogs. Afterwards, we will warm up, enjoy a well-earned meal together, and reflect on the day's experiences. We will end the evening with a relaxed dinner while preparing for the exciting tour days ahead.
-
Over the next two days, you and your dogs will venture deep into the wilderness. Our destination is a remote wilderness cabin located nearly 40 km from the camp. Under good weather conditions, the journey takes around four hours by sled, although challenging weather and trail conditions may extend the travel time.
Once we reach our destination, our first priority is always to take care of the dogs. The traditional log cabin is nestled within a nature reserve, far from civilization, and has neither electricity nor running water. Before we can settle in for the evening, there are still plenty of tasks to tackle. From sawing and splitting firewood, lighting the fire and heating the stove, to collecting water from the nearby river—teamwork is essential.
This is a hands-on adventure, far removed from simply consuming a tourist experience. Instead, you will become part of everyday life in the Arctic wilderness and immerse yourself in a fascinating world that few people ever get to experience. Welcome to the wilderness of Swedish Lapland!
The following morning, after breakfast, we will harness the dogs once again and begin our journey back to the camp.
-
On Thursday, another day tour awaits. The length and duration of the tour can be adapted to your wishes as well as the current weather and trail conditions. As always, our first priority after returning to camp is to take care of the dogs. Afterwards, there will be plenty of time to relax and reflect on the experiences of the past few days. Why not end the week in true Scandinavian style with a traditional sauna?
-
After saying your goodbyes to the dogs, we will drive you back to Vilhelmina, where you will begin your journey home, taking with you unforgettable memories of your time in the wilderness.
This provider implements additional measures and goes beyond both our minimum requirements and the applicable national regulations.
To highlight and promote this commitment, we use a simple recognition system on our platform. Partners who exceed our requirements in at least three areas are identified by this symbol. You can find more information here.
This provider places special emphasis on maintaining a balanced age structure within the pack. This ensures that all dogs entering retirement can spend the rest of their life on the farm and remain part of the community until the very end. The small group size allows for individual care. In addition, all male dogs are neutered to prevent unplanned litters. Also noteworthy are the two scheduled rest days each week, giving the dogs time to recover and recuperate.

All longer tours require a reasonable level of physical fitness.
Over several consecutive days, you will be travelling by dog sled. This is not a passive experience—you won't simply be standing on the sled. On uphill sections or in deep snow, you will actively assist your dogs by pushing or running alongside the sled when needed. You and your dogs will work together as a team throughout the journey.
The minimum age for our tours is generally 18 years (or 16 years by arrangement).
Our tours are primarily designed for adults. Young people aged 16 and over are welcome to participate upon prior agreement. Participation by younger guests is only possible after consultation with us and must be accompanied by a responsible adult who assumes full responsibility for them.
We have a dedicated blog post about the physical requirements for dogsledding. How fit do you need to be? From sit-down tours to multi-day expeditions with camping in tents, different trips require different levels of fitness. Read more about it here. -
